If your label printer is skipping every other label—printing one and then feeding a blank label—this is a common issue that can typically be resolved by checking a few key settings.
Below are possible causes and solutions:
1. Mismatch Between Label Size and Print Settings
Cause: The label size specified in your printer driver or printing software does not match the actual label size.
The label size specified in your printer setting -label length-, printer driver or printing software does not match the actual label size.
Result: The printer prints on one label, then feeds a blank label, and repeats the cycle.
Solution:
Double-check the actual size of your labels (e.g., 50mm x 30mm).
Ensure that the same size is correctly set in your printer driver and/or label printing software
Instead of using specified label size, please try to use "Auto Measure" function.
*Several model have "Auto Measure" function which is typically in Printing menu.
2. Sensor Calibration Issue (Gap Misalignment)
Cause: The printer cannot accurately detect the beginning of each label due to improper sensor calibration.
Solution:
Perform a sensor calibration on your printer. This process allows the printer to relearn where each label starts and ends based on gaps or black marks.
The calibration function may be labeled as "Calibration", or similar, depending on your printer model.
3. Incorrect Page or Paper Settings in Printing Software
Cause: The software settings may treat each label as a separate page or may have margins that cause misalignment.
Solution:
Review the page size, margin, and paper settings in your label design software.
Make sure that one label equals one printed page, with no extra spacing or page breaks in between.
4. Blank Labels Generated by Template or Data Settings
Cause: Your label template may include blank entries or records with no print content.
Solution:
Check the template to ensure no empty labels are included.
If using database-driven printing, review the filters or records to avoid outputting blank entries.
5. Printer Mode Settings (Dispenser, Cutter, etc.)
Cause: Some printer modes may intentionally feed an extra label for peeling or cutting purposes.
Solution:
Review your printer’s operation mode (such as Dispenser-mode, Cut, or Tear-Off).
If unnecessary, switch to a Continuous or Standard mode to avoid extra feeds.
